Take Offs
South Take Off 1700m
It is used when the wind blows from the south (sea). It is big enough for 15 canopies to fit side by side and it is the most secure one regarding the running distance. There are some nice thermal areas on the right after the take off.
Take Off Altitude and the Best Wind Direction
1700 m. The best wind direction is south, from the sea.
Things to Watch Out For
When the wind blows from left 1900m Patara Take Off should be preferred. When it is the Patara wind, there will be a small closings and swings after taking off. You mustn't take off in the west wind, which is called Fethiye wind. You can best understand Fethiye wind from the windsock on top of the hill on the right.
Character of the Take off
If the meteorological conditions are not under any effect the wind follows. In the morning, it is slow sometimes from north; in the afternoon, it is strong and in the evening it is slow again. Especially on hot summer days the wind speeds up to max 30 km/h. Turbulence reaches the limits on hot days.
Transportation
The same forest road is used to reach South 1700, North 1800, North 1960, and 1900 Patara take offs. The vehicles are 4X4 of the travel agencies and the journey takes 45 minutes through the beautiful Cedar Forest.
The Best Soaring Conditions
The left and right side of the South take off is convenient for soaring in middle and strong winds. The thermals are very strong especially over the area of the rocky area on the right. There are strong but rare thermals over the second rocky area on the left.
Pilot Level
It is an ideal site for levels of according to PARAPRO COLOR CODE Orange, according to USGHA Pilot Proficiency P2- Novice Pilot, and according to BHPA levels starting from club Pilot. The easiness of the take off and the route allows many student pilots fly.

North 1800 Take Off
It is used when the wind blows from north. Only two canopies can fit side to side. It is the riskiest take off considering the take off conditions. Therefore, this take off should be preferred when North 1960 Take Off too windy.
Take Off Altitude and the Best Wind Direction
The best wind direction is when the wind blows directly from north.
Things to Watch Out For
The running distance is very short. The area where the canopies are laid is full of rocks. Take off must be performed only in the West Wind generally called the Fethiye Wind.
Character of the Take off
Because this take off is very short, it requires a good take off control. You must be sure that the strings don't get tangled on the rocks. Turn left right after taking off and follow the slope. The further you fly towards the valley the more you sink. It may not be possible to head towards South over 1700m; therefore you can turn south from the very end of the mountain lowering towards south. If you can't pass the south of the mountain it is possible to land in Ovacik. Beware of the electricity wires there are too many of them. That's why always check whether the landing is all clear. If possible, you should determine a landing while on your way up to the mountain. (The West- Fethiye Wind is the only reason why the flights are cancelled on Babadag.)
Transportation
The same forest road is used to reach South 1700, North 1800, North 1960, and 1900 Patara take offs. The vehicles are 4X4 of the travel agencies and the journey takes 45 minutes through the beautiful Cedar Forest.
The Best Soaring Conditions
It would be less possible to lose altitude in the North 1800 take off as long as you follow the slope. There aren't many soaring conditions available though.
Pilot Level
It is an ideal site for levels of according to PARAPRO COLOR CODE Blue, according to USGHA Pilot Proficiency P3, and according to BHPA levels starting from Experienced Pilot. A slope that must be followed after the take off and the potential of landing in Ovacik, which may require experience of emergency landing, are the main reasons of the difficulty of this take off.

1900 Patara Take Off
It is a wide and safe take off where 4-5 canopies can fit. It is preferred when the wind is mainly from the south but slightly eastern. The wind is generally around 10-15 km/h and could go up to 30 km/h.
Take Off Altitude and the Best Wind Direction
1900 m. The best wind direction is Southeast, the wind blowing from the Patara Beach.
Things to Watch Out For
Because the possibility of rotor is 100%, never take off from the Patara take off with the wind coming from this direction.
Character of the Take off
It is a very safe take off and has a comfortable running distance. Turn left right after taking off.
It is suitable for soaring in mid and strong winds. Over the rocky area stretching on the right, especially over the first layer, there are thermals of mid strength and are very often. Over the second rocky area on the right there are very strong thermals but rare.
Pilot Level
It is an ideal site for levels of according to PARAPRO COLOR CODE Orange, according to USGHA Pilot Proficiency P2- Novice Pilot, and according to BHPA levels starting from Club Pilot.

North 1960 Take Off
It is big enough for 2-3 canopies and used when the wind is from the north. The speed of the wind is usually 10-15 km/h but may go up to 30 km/h.
Take Off Altitude and the Best Wind Direction
1960 m. The best wind direction is north.
Things to Watch Out For
Because the possibility of rotor is 100%, never take off from the Patara take off with the wind coming from this direction.
Character of the Take off
Even though the running distance isn't much, take off is comfortable, especially when the wind blows exactly from the south, because of the high steep. Turn left right after taking off and avoid losing altitude. It's possible to lay the canopy slightly vertical in light winds coming from Fethiye. Important notice: in light Fethiye winds there is too much loss of altitude.
In this take off facing the north, the right and left are the best soaring areas when the wind is 20 or 25/30 km/h. Mid-strength thermals are rarely seen ob the right. On the other hand, there are strong thermals over the 1800 take off on the left.
Pilot Level
It is an ideal site for levels of according to PARAPRO COLOR CODE Orange, according to USGHA Pilot Proficiency P2- Novice Pilot, and according to BHPA levels starting from Pilot.

800 m Take Off
It is used when Babadag is completely covered with clouds and these clouds are coming down until 800 m and especially in winter when the tops cannot be reached. It is also used when there are very strong winds at the peaks.
Take Off Altitude and the Best Wind Direction
800 m. The best wind direction is exact south.
Things to Watch Out For
The speed of the wind is very important, as it is an abyss take off. It is risky to take off in slow wind because the canopy may not be completely full. In strong winds, 90 degrees of vertical slope creates turbulence at the edge of the take off. Therefore, you should take off when the wind is between 15 and 20 km/h.
Character of the Take off
The running distance is sufficient. Because there is a little steep and the take off ends suddenly should take off when the wind is 15/20 km/h.
Transportation
The road on the coast to Faralya Village is used. It is about a 40-minute drive.
The Best Soaring Conditions
Since it is far from the landing area, you should try to reach the landing instead of soaring.
Pilot Level
It is an ideal site for levels of according to PARAPRO COLOR CODE Orange, according to USGHA Pilot Proficiency P2- Novice Pilot, and according to BHPA levels starting from Pilot.

Landing Area: Belcekiz Beach
The take offs that use it
It's a landing used by all north and south take offs and 800 m take off.
Features
It is one of the safest landing areas in the world. On the 2 km long beach, the area between the Gendarme Hill and the end of the beach is used to land. Although the beach is very crowded in summer time, there is plenty of space where there aren't any parasols. The wind always blows from the south.

|
|
Landing Area: Ovacık
The take offs that use it
It is an alternate landing area for all north take offs. It is an emergency landing when it isn't possible to pass over Babadag and face the south.
Features
There are too many buildings and high-voltage electricity wires. In the empty spaces, there may be some equipment of the unfinished buildings. You must be very careful landing here. The wind blows from Oludeniz.
