Region of LakesKocagol Lake

The surrounding area of Kapikargin village in Dalaman region is known as the region of lakes. Kocagol which is the largest and deepest (40 m) of 4 lakes, is formed by the alluvions barricading the bay from the sea; Badirnaz, Kargin and Kukurtlugol, connected to each other with canals. There are over 300 different plant species living around Kocagol and 23 of them are indigeneous. There is even a small island looking like a vase fallen into the lake.

Beaches around Dalaman

The most popular beach in the region is Sarsala Beach, just 8 kms from Dalaman town centre.

There are also lots of untouched inlets with tiny beaches like Lakoz, Boynuzbuku, Kille, ..

Lakoz Beach

Iztuzu Beach (Turtle Beach)The neighbouring Dalyan, just 35 kms from Dalaman, is in the center of a broad delta at the head of long sandbar called Iztuzu Beach

The endangered Loggerhead Turtle has turned here for hundreds millions of year to lay its eggs.

History

There are lots of antique sites around Dalaman;  
Lidai, Lissay, Crya and Kleopatra Hamam Kalynda and rock tombs at Kapidag, Lycian rock tombs at Gokdag and  Kayadibi, Hippokome antique site at Kavacik and Bozbel are worth seeing... 

The neighbouring Dalyan, just 35 kms away from Dalaman, should also be recommended for the visitors to expand their activities to see more of the nature and history.

The Lycian antique site Caunos, Iztuzu beach, so called 'Turtle Beach', mud baths on Koycegiz Lake can be visited on a daily boat tour starting from Dalyan.
